***LORD OF OBLIVIANA***

4/27/97 * 1:15 AM

Well folks, here I am again, at the beginning of another new chapter in the ongoing development of Obliviana.

You know, someone once told me, after reading a few of the early issues of OsoaWeek: "You really don't want Obliviana to become a success. I can tell by the way you write." (I'm paraphrasing here.)

Well, I didn't WANT to believe that, but there is some truth to that statement. Indeed, having a creative thing that virtually nobody sees gives you a whole lot of freedom. No pressure, no having to deal with other people.

But I can't tell you how much time and effort I've put into Obliviana over the past decade or so. And all of this effort has been with the specific intent of someday being able to make a living with Obliviana, maybe even get rich and famous and powerful.

But look at where I am. I've produced a huge amount of really awesome work, but as yet, virtually no one has seen it or heard of it. This situation has been going on and on for a long time. I keep busting my ass producing stuff, but I don't make much of an effort to present it and promote it properly.

With this new direction, I intend to correct this problem. I have totally redesigned the Obliviana website from scratch, and I've gotten a new web hosting company. The URL for Obliviana will now be "http://www.obliviana.com" and NOT "http://www.obliviana.com/~osoa". This may not seem like much, but believe me, it kind of a dream come true.

Anyway, what I'm trying to say is... look... this whole Obliviana thing... it's me and me alone who's behind all of it. I have to deal with purely creative stuff one minute, then deal with tiring technical issues (such as Unix commands with Telnet), and then deal with business issues (like getting a new P. O. Box, registering my trade name, etc.). All of this while working a full time job.

And also, all of this while fighting my own fear of success.

I'm in this mood because I've really been burning the midnight oil this past week to get the new website going. And now, an hour or so past the deadline, I am still working hard to get the website going. And to top it all off, I'm having to compromise all over the place to get things done.

Anyway, the next three months is meant as a time to get this new website in order, to really polish it and get it in good working order and get alotta awesome content into it.

Oh well. Talk to you again next week. And this time, I really mean it. No more issues being 200+ days late. OsoaWeek is gonna be on time from now on, dammit!

Get all Obliviana.
