SPECIAL NOTICE
-----------

This is the first issue of OsoaWeek to be E-mailed via the Obliviana Mailing List via ListBot. If you have received this special notice, it means that you are NOT yet on the Obliviana Mailing List. (I am mailing OsoaWeek with this special notice separately.)

Do not fear, however, for I have a very simple way for you to get onto the mailing list. Just head on over to:

http://www.obliviana.com/new/eyf5.html

On this page (which is the final page of the Fonosta Establishment pages), you will find a button that says "Join Our Mailing List". Click on this button.

The button will take you to the ListBot signup area. Most likely, it will say something like "Account Locked". This is because ListBot has already tried to verify your signup, but for whatever reason, you never responded to the verification message.

All you have to do is click the "Send Verification Message" link that you will see on the page, and ListBot will send you a brand new verification message. All you have to do is respond to this message--it doesn't matter what message you send. You can just type "okay", or anything else. (The message will have the subject line "You have been asked to join Obliviana Mailing List". Make sure not to throw it out with a bunch of junk E-mail!)

This whole annoying process is something you only have to do once. ListBot is a service that is totally legitimate--and totally free. Since I have to do everything in Obliviana myself, a service like ListBot makes my life a whole lot easier.

So go ahead and sign up! It'll take you five minutes! Maybe less! And it will make me very very happy! I won't have to send out this "special (and very annoying) edition" of OsoaWeek ever again when everybody is on ListBot!

Thanks. Now, enjoy the very latest issue of OsoaWeek!!!!!

LORD OF OBLIVIANA
-----------

Hey. It's the third week of the new Obliviana. I've been working like crazy trying to get things moving. It's pretty tough, since I have to do everything myself. But such is the nature of Obliviana!

Anyway, I know that all you Obliviana players out there are more than a little confused about what the heck is going on with the game of Obliviana. I admit that right now, the game is quite vague and unclear--but I have a plan to remedy this situation!

Here's the story. I have a vision for the way Obliviana will eventually be. To implement this vision I will have to automate the game, using CGI scripting, databases, and other stuff. In order to do this, I'm going to need a lot of time. But, as you know, the game is already going!

See, I thought that it would be possible to do Obliviana WITHOUT a lot of programming. But this alternative puts a great deal of burden on the players--not just in terms of time, but also in terms of technical know-how. One example of this is my idea of having people create their own web pages to present their Fonosta.

Well, by actually getting started with the game, I see now that my previous plan was seriously flawed. So, I have charted a new course of action.

My solution is that I will create a NEW aspect of Obliviana that is easy and fun to play--as well as being easy to implement from a technical perspective. I will continue to develop my original, overall plan for Obliviana--but now, I will have some time to do it right.

This new part of Obliviana is tentatively called Xappenshard Park, and it will officially start next week! I think you're really going to like it.

But there's still plenty of cool stuff in Obliviana before the Xappenshard Park begins. If you haven't attended Obliviana School, get on over there! It will help alleviate somewhat this strange malady "confusion" which seems to be plaguing everyone who visits the Obliviana website.

Also, "Duffy the Soapsud" is a great thing to take a look at. Each week, it delivers a stimulating blast of reading, with a bunch of cool selection from my writing! Read it every week. Heck, make it a weekly ritual!

Well, almost time to go. I do want to tell you, though, that the seemingly endless ramblings of mine that used to characterize the "Lord of Obliviana" feature are not a thing of the past--oh, no. I am still writing that crazy stuff, and it will soon appear in a feature called "Get All Obliviana". Watch for it in the next few weeks!

TARB UPDATE

This is a minor rules revision, which I haven't even updated yet on the site itself.

Basically, a Tarb is a unit of time, so I have decided to get rid of the idea that you get extra Tarbs for Obliviana Day, you birthday, a Lucky Storm hit, etc. You WILL still get rewards for these events, but they will not be in the form of Tarbs.

DONEXT UPDATE

With Xappenshard Park looming in the near future, I may make some changes to Donext. For now, though, you can continue to send in your weekly Donexts from the Play Obliviana page.

CARNE'S MOISTURE DETECTION FRIEND
Episode Three
An OsoaWeek Exclusive Feature
-----------

CARNE: It seems like everyone has a website these days. Even my Moisture Detection Friend has one.

PACER: I'm gonna have a website.

CARNE: Oh yeah, what's it gonna... WHOAH!

PACER: Hey! Come on man! Stop driving like a psycho!

CARNE: I wasn't my fault, that guy totally cut me off!

PACER: Well, I don't know. Just you're always supposed to be in control of your vehicle, y'know? Anyway, my website? It's gonna be of imaginary cat food. It's gonna have all graphics and shit. This friend of mine? He knows a guy in the city who does artwork and logos and stuff, and he says he can draw all th fake cat food cans and make them look, y'know, real.

CARNE: So, what, like something like "Frothy's Buffet", and have a rabid cat foaming at the mouth--something like that?

PACER: Um... not really... we're not really going for that college humor sort of direction. We have some stuff like "Nuts and Bolts Cat Food for the Robotic Cats". Or, "Lumber Scrap Cat Food for the Wooden Cats", all stuff like that.

CARNE: So, is this meant--is it meant as comedy, or as...

PACER: It's mainly the artwork. I saw some of what this guy does. I tellya, it looks--y'know--totally professional. Anyway, we're gonna let people see like two or three of the cat food cans, and then they can pay a monthly fee to see the whole collection--like ten dollars a month, or something. Not that much. And then we'll split it with this guy, the guy in the city.

CARNE: And you think people are gonna be... um... signing up for this?

PACER: That's the beauty of it. There are millions and millions of people online. Say ten million. If we just get, like, I don't know, one percent of the people out there, that's like, a hundred-thousand people. And each of them paying ten dollars a month, um... well, I figured it out, and over the course of just one year, we'll make like over ten million dollars. So my split will be, like, three million dollars or something. And that's just one year!
